Early Life, Career and Success

  Genevieve Nnaji was born on 3rd May (1979). She is a Nigerian Nollywood actress, director and a former model. She won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2005, making her the first
performing artist to win the award. In 2011, she was regarded as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her commitment to Nollywood.

    Happily, Nnaji was given birth to in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria yet experienced most of her childhood in Lagos, the fourth of eight kids of her family and was raised in a working class condition. Her dad functioned as a specialist and her mom as a nursery teacher. She went to Methodist Girls College (Yaba, Lagos), before moving into the University
of Lagos where she graduated with a four year college education in innovative expressions. While at the college, she started trying out for acting occupations in Nollywood.

   Firstly, Nnaji began her acting career as a kid performer in the then prevalent TV cleanser musical drama “Ripples’ at the age of 8. In 1998 at 19 years old she was brought into the developing Nigerian film industry with the motion picture & Most Wanted;. Her resulting motion pictures incorporate “Last Party, Mark of the Beast and Ijele” . In 2010 she featured in the honor winning film “Ijé”: The Journey. She has featured in more than 150 Nollywood movies.
